First band
In 2006 I started a band with some close friends of mine. The main goal was to get our minds off of broken relationships. You know, the stuff that haunts you when you're young. After a while people started to have different opinions about the musical direction we were heading. We all had different tastes of music and very different experience levels. After a year or so the band fell apart due to these disagreements.
Solace Within
At the beginning of 2008 I really felt like resurrecting the band and this time take serious considerations about who to put in the band and in what direction I wanted to go. I really wanted to be in an energetic metalband that wouldn't lose the musical emotional touch out of sight. I found 5 people who shared that thought and Solace Within was back up and running, stronger than ever! Our music can be compared to a mix of Evanescence and Bullet for my Valentine.
Guitar
I've been playing the guitar since I was 11 years old but unfortunately never really put much energy in it. Playing all alone up in your room gets boring very fast. The internet wasn't around yet so all the tabs, music and other information wasn't accessible at that time. I did have lessons at a musicschool in Hengelo called Huigens. I've had 3 different teachers over the years, all very gifted and successful musicians. Since I got in the band I regained my passion for the guitar though it felt like I had to learn to play all over again =P.
